What is an Anaesthetist?

An anaesthetist in Australia is a medical specialist who looks after patients during operations and procedures. They have completed medical school, followed by working as a junior doctor for atleast two years before completing 5 years of specialist training according to the Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. Many often have done extra years of subspeciality training afterwards such as paediatrics or cardiothoracic anaesthesia.

Through the meticulous standards, rigorous training and ongoing education in Australia, there is no safer place in the world for anaesthesia.
