For the success of your procedure, it is important to ensure that your other medical issues are well controlled and stable. eg good blood pressure control is necessary for minimising bleeding problems during surgery as well as damage to the heart and brain in the long term.
- See your GP or specialist in advance, particularly if you have
- diabetes and hormone deficiencies including thyroid disease
- heart disease
- seizures/fits or other neurological disease
- problems with blood clotting or bleeding
- anaemia
- liver or kidney disease
- breathing problems including asthma or obstructive sleep apnoea
- Take your medication (including on the day of surgery, unless advised otherwise)
- Make sure you have details and recent check ups of your medical devices and bring them to hospital on the day (eg. CPAP machine, pacemaker, defibrillator)
