These are some of the commonest procedures done. They are normally done with sedation anaesthesia. The goal here is that you are comfortable and safe rather than aiming for a full general anaesthetic. You will get an intravenous cannula, and some sleepy medication. You are unlikely to have any recall of the procedure although you may remember some parts of the room, etc. If you have very significant health issues, then this may be safer done with only a very “light” anaesthetic, in which case you may remember a little more.
These are normally done as day cases (unless significant interventions are required) with rapid recovery. Normally paracetamol is adequate pain relief for afterwards.
